Terms of Service
Agreement
By installing or using The Great Filter Chrome extension ("the Service"), you agree to these Terms of Service. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.
The Great Filter is operated by The Great Filter LLC. References to "we", "us", or "our" refer to The Great Filter LLC.
What the service does
The Great Filter is a browser extension that evaluates social media content using AI before it is displayed to you, filtering content you have chosen to filter based on your selected mode. The Service operates on content from third-party platforms including X, Reddit, YouTube, and Bluesky.
We are not affiliated with, endorsed by, or in partnership with any of these platforms. Use of The Great Filter does not modify any agreement you have with those platforms.
Your account
You must create an account to use the Service. You are responsible for maintaining the security of your account credentials. You must provide accurate information during registration.
You may not create accounts for others, share your account, or use the Service for any commercial purpose without our written permission.
Subscriptions and payments
The Service offers a free tier with limited monthly evaluations and a paid subscription for unlimited evaluations. Subscription fees are billed in advance on a monthly or annual basis.
- Subscriptions automatically renew unless cancelled
- You may cancel at any time through your account page or by contacting us
- Refunds are not provided for partial billing periods
- We reserve the right to change pricing with 30 days notice to active subscribers
Payments are processed by Stripe. Your payment information is never stored by us.
Acceptable use
You agree not to:
- Attempt to circumvent usage limits or access controls
- Reverse engineer, decompile, or modify the Service
- Use the Service to violate any applicable law or regulation
- Resell, sublicense, or commercially exploit the Service
- Interfere with or disrupt the Service or its infrastructure
- Use the Service in any way that violates the terms of any third-party platform
Service availability
We provide the Service on a best-efforts basis. We do not guarantee uninterrupted access or that the Service will function correctly on all platforms at all times. Third-party platforms may change their structure in ways that temporarily or permanently affect the Service's functionality.
We reserve the right to modify, suspend, or discontinue the Service at any time with reasonable notice where possible.
Intellectual property
The Great Filter, including its name, logo, design, and software, is owned by The Great Filter LLC. You are granted a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable license to use the Service for personal, non-commercial purposes.
Disclaimer of warranties
The Service is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind. We do not warrant that the Service will be error-free, that content filtering will be accurate, or that the Service will meet your specific requirements.
Content filtering is inherently imperfect. The Service may filter content you would have wanted to see, or fail to filter content you would have preferred not to see. The "View anyway" option is always available for filtered content.
Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, The Great Filter LLC shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising from your use of the Service, including but not limited to loss of data, loss of revenue, or emotional distress.
Our total liability to you for any claim shall not exceed the amount you paid us in the twelve months preceding the claim.
Termination
We may suspend or terminate your account if you violate these terms. You may terminate your account at any time through the account management page. Upon termination, your data will be deleted in accordance with our Privacy Policy.
Changes to these terms
We may update these terms from time to time. We will notify active subscribers by email of material changes. Continued use of the Service after notification constitutes acceptance.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of New Jersey, United States, without regard to conflict of law principles.
